| Abstract | This document shows how to correct the file system error 54 in Peachtree |
| TIPS | An I/O (Input/Output) error indicates that Peachtree Accounting cannot read or write from or to a particular file. This can happen for many reasons. For example, the file which you are attempting to read from or write to is on a bad part of the hard drive. The error implies that that the data is corrupted beyond repair. To resolve the problem, restore a complete backup of the company prior to the error message. Here are some suggestions on how to correct the error: |
| Step 1 | Exit Peachtree Accounting. |
| Step 2 | Use CHKDSK or the build-in utility in Windows to verify that the hard disk is OK. |
| Step 3 | Run Integrity Check, and select the Reindex Files option. |
| Step 4 | Reindex the files mentioned in the error message. For details of how to run reindex function in Peachtree, please go to TS000905 |
